2017 Google Online Marketing Challenge

The Google Online Marketing Challenge is a unique opportunity for students to experience and create online marketing campaigns using Google AdWords. Over 110,000 students and professors from almost 100 countries have participated in the past 9 years.
With a $250 AdWords advertising budget provided by Google, students develop and run an online advertising campaign for a business or non-profit organization over a three week period. The teams that develop and communicate the most successful campaigns win awesome prizes, including trips to Google offices. Students also have the opportunity to participate in the optional AdWords Certification category by studying and passing the necessary exams to become an AdWords Certified individual in the Google Partners platform.
The Challenge is open to student teams of three to six members from undergraduate or graduate programs, regardless of their major. All students must register under a verified faculty member, lecturer or instructor currently employed by an accredited higher education institute.
It’s time to put your marketing skills to the test. Visit HERE to learn more about the Challenge and how to participate.

GOOGLE DIGITAL SKILLS FOR AFRICA

Google has announced that over 500 000 young Africans have been trained on digital skills under its Digital Skills Africa program. In a statement released to the media, in April  last year Google committed to train one million people across the continent on digital skills within a year and has, six months later, reached the halfway mark. The announcement was made alongside the launch of its online training portal for Africa.
The portal, which offers online courses on a wide range of digital subjects, including web analytics, social media management and mobile marketing, will be available in English, French and, in the near future, Portuguese.
The global firm states that youth unemployment across Africa is high (35% in South Africa, 17% in Kenya, 13% in Nigeria) - developing digital entrepreneurship and creating new job opportunities for young people is critical to Africa's transformative growth. But digital skills are still under-developed, making it harder for African economies to get the most out of the web.
TO JOIN OTHER AFRICANS TAKING GOOD ADVANTAGE OF THIS OPPORTUNITY,
